What is this Workshop?
This workshop is designed for any and all Pepperdine undergraduate students interested in possibly auditioning in the future to become a Songfest host. The workshop is very hands-on, with interactive discussion, singing, and dancing. This is a very fun and pressure-free environment, where participants can get direct insight into what they might encounter in the audition and selection process.
What to Expect
- Great information and tips about preparing a Songfest host audition
- Experience what auditions are actually like (both initial and call-back auditions)
- SINGING! (as a group- individual singing on volunteer basis)
- DANCING! (as a group)
- Meet and collaborate with the Songfest staff
- Questions asked and answered
- Hear from former hosts about their experiences
- LOTS OF FUN!!
- Enjoy participating with other talented Songfest-lovers
- Safe, pressure-free environment
- Get a taste of what hosting might be like
- No requirements, evaluation, or assessment (seriously- there's nothing at stake)
- No obligation (you're not committing to anything)
- All experience levels welcome (including none!)
The workshop is expected to last about 90 minutes.
There is NO experience necessary. If you have any interest at all... COME!!
Sounds Awesome! What should I do to attend?
There is NO preparation necessary.
Do come dressed comfortably (there will be a choreography session of mild intensity).
So we can prepare our material for the workshop, we're asking potential attendees to sign up and provide particular information. The sooner the better (but don't let a late sign-up stop you from attending!).
To sign up, please send an email to songfest@pepperdine.edu with a subject that includes "audition workshop" and a message that includes the following information:
- Name (first and last)
- Gender
- Year in school (current)
- Preferred voice range (higher, lower, or unknown) [relative to other singers of your gender]
- Email address (so we can communicate further information)
- Phone number (in case of last-minute event changes)
More Info
Attending this workshop is NOT a requirement for auditioning to be a Songfest host. But our hope is that participating would be helpful for anyone who's thinking about auditioning- whether or not you've done so before (and even whether or not you've been a host before).
Going to be overseas next year? COME ANYWAY! This workshop will still be very relevant and helpful for auditioning in any future year.
